No. POTATO works fully offline and stores your projects on your Mac. Signing in with Google is optional — it only turns on cloud sync so your focus data follows you across devices.
No. Signing in merges your local data with the cloud (it keeps the higher total time for each project) and uploads anything that isn't backed up yet. Your local data is never erased.
POTATO is a single-window app, so closing the main window saves your data and quits the app. Your focus history is saved continuously, so nothing is lost. To reopen, just click the POTATO icon in the Dock or Launchpad. During a focus session the window is minimised (not closed), so the floating timer keeps running — closing only happens when you explicitly hit the red close button while no session is active.
A one-time purchase unlocks unlimited projects, extra animation themes (such as the boba tea theme), on-device flow detection, and cloud sync. You can restore your purchase on a new Mac with the same Apple ID via “Restore Purchase”.
